The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Thursday that Karachi will remain engulfed in a heatwave until June 1, prompting residents to eagerly await rain in hopes of cooling temperatures.
According to the Met Office's heatwave forecast, Karachi's weather is expected to persist as extremely hot and dry over the next 24 hours.
Temperatures are forecasted to soar, with maximums ranging between 41 to 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum recorded temperature in the past 24 hours stood at 29.5°C, with humidity at 79%.
Winds blowing from the southwest at a speed of 8 kilometers per hour are contributing to the oppressive conditions.

The PMD warned that the heatwave conditions are anticipated to affect not only Karachi but also the districts of Thatta, Badin, and Sujawal until June 1.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz reiterated this forecast, indicating temperatures could exceed 40°C, possibly reaching 42°C over the next two days, as Sindh grapples with severe heat.
Sarfraz also noted that rural areas of Sindh experienced temperatures as high as 53°C this season, recalling that in 2017, Turbat recorded a blistering 54°C — the highest temperature in Pakistan's history.
